What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government-run scheme that allows Alzheimer’s Research UK to reclaim the tax that you have already paid on your donations. To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax must at least equal the amount Alzheimer’s Research UK, or any other charities or CASC’s, claim in the tax year. If you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on your donations, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

Gift Aid and sponsorship
To allow us to claim this additional income, your sponsors must:
- Write their full name and title
- Include their full home address
- Tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you
- The name, amount, address and postcode must be filled out in the sponsors own handwriting
The information above applies to offline donations only. JustGiving and other online fundraising sites will automatically claim Gift Aid on behalf of your sponsors where they are eligible.

FAQs
No. You just need to do it once and it will cover gifts you have already made to ARUK in the last four years and gifts you make in the future, until you let us know otherwise.
All individual donations are eligible for Gift Aid. Donations from a group (e.g. a school or local church) and collections are not eligible for Gift Aid – except if individual envelopes or a collection form listing each members name, address and full postcode are enclosed, plus a clear indication that we Alzheimer's Research UK can claim Gift Aid against their donations.
We can only claim back tax at the basic rate, but it is still worth 25% extra on your donations to us, so please provide us with a declaration anyway.
Your gifts are still eligible for Gift Aid, but we need both your details separately for our records, as well as a Gift Aid declaration from your partner. Please contact our Supporter Care team on 0300 111 5555 and we will be able to arrange this for you.
You may still be paying tax on a private pension plan or a savings account, or capital gains tax if you sell either some property of shares. You are still eligible if you have paid enough tax during the year to cover the amount we are reclaiming on your donations.
If your circumstances have changed and you need to withdraw your donations from the Gift Aid scheme, please get in touch with the Supporter Care team on 0300 111 5555 or email enquiries@alzheimersresearchuk.org
If, for any reason, you decide that your gift should not be included in Gift Aid – perhaps you realise that you will not pay enough tax to cover the tax reclaimed by us or you have held a collection – then simply contact our Supporter Care team on 0300 111 5555 or email enquiries@alzheimersresearchuk.org and we will amend your record to reflect this.
If you have any questions which are not covered here or you need some advice, please contact the Supporter Care team on 0300 111 5555 or email enquiries@alzheimersresearchuk.org who will be more than happy to help.
