Policy Involvement Panel

Help shape dementia policy and give a voice to people affected by the condition.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is working hard to keep dementia on the agenda of policymakers. Come and help us by giving a voice to the millions of people affected by dementia across the UK – including people with the condition, and those caring for someone with dementia.

We need your help to represent people affected by dementia, building evidence to drive policy and increasing decision-makers’ awareness of the impact of dementia. We are looking for people living with and affected by dementia to join our dedicated policy panel. As a panel member we will ask you to volunteer 1-2 hours of your time a month, and to attend some meetings, usually based in London.

In your application, we’d be interested to know whether you’re caring for, living with or know someone living with dementia (if applicable) and why you’d like to volunteer in this role.

We’ll support you in your role as a panel member by:

  • Providing involvement training before you start.
  • Meeting the policy team.
  • Keeping you updated on our policy work.
  • Having a 6 monthly one to one catch-up.
  • Booking travel and accommodation as required, in advance.

Policy panel members duties include:

  • Representing people living with and affected by dementia.
  • Helping review our policy work.
  • Attending meetings.
  • Speaking to the media about your work with us and your experience of dementia.

Role description

Panel member

We want to bring people living with dementia, their carers, and loved ones much closer to the policy work we do here at Alzheimer’s Research UK. The Policy Involvement Panel provides an opportunity for you to get involved by telling us about your experiences, offering us your views, as well as advice on the policy work we do.

We need people who can empower us to drive policy change!”
