Our partnership with parkrun
We were delighted to join forces with parkrun in 2015 as their charity partner. We continue to be blown away by the support of parkrunners across the UK, who are all determined to make a difference to dementia research.
Around 11,000 parkrunners have supported Alzheimer’s Research UK since the start of the partnership. They have so far helped raise more than £890,000 for world-class research which will help us in our mission to bring about the first life-changing treatment for dementia by 2025. You can read some of their stories here.
But our partnership with parkrun, which provides free and inclusive weekly 5km runs around the country, is about more than just fundraising.
Evidence has shown that leading a healthy lifestyle and being socially active can reduce the risk of dementia, so we are determined to help parkrun continue to grow their community and spread the word about the benefits of exercise.
We are also committed to fighting the fear and stigma that still surrounds dementia and a dedicated group of parkrun Dementia Champions are helping us achieve that mission.
Lots of our staff are parkrunners and can be regularly seen at their local events every Saturday clocking up the kilometres. Click here to read about why we #loveparkrun.
