NG Bailey smashes fundraising target with £112,000 for dementia research

NG Bailey has raised an incredible £112,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK to help fund a cure for dementia – smashing its original £75,000 fundraising target. As well as going above and beyond to fundraise for the UK’s leading dementia research charity, the business also worked to increase employees’ understanding of dementia and the impact it has on people’s lives.
After launching with a ‘Go Orange’ day, in which employees donned the charity’s colour for a day and took part in orange-themed activities, people across NG Bailey threw themselves behind the cause, getting involved in events from sporting challenges to quizzes. During the 15-month partnership, fundraising events included a backwards sailing challenge, and a team of four – ‘Team Tangerine’ – who completed this year’s Great North Run together. Many employees took on challenges inspired by loved ones with dementia.
NG Bailey also helped Alzheimer’s Research UK to pilot and launch its Learning Calendar, offering monthly talks and information for employees on different topics related to dementia. The Learning Calendar is now being used with businesses across the country to help thousands of people develop their knowledge of dementia, in turn helping to combat common misconceptions about the condition.
David Hurcomb, Chief Executive from NG Bailey said:
“Our Charity of the Year partnership is a core element of how we give back to the communities in which we work. Our employees chose to support Alzheimer’s Research UK and we are thrilled to have exceeded our original fundraising target. This has only been possible thanks to the dedication and passion demonstrated by our people in support of this amazing charity. We wish Alzheimer’s Research UK every success in their future research.”
Felicity James, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said:
“A huge thank you to everyone at NG Bailey who has made this partnership such an incredible success. From the very start, we have been blown away by their enthusiastic support, which is testament to the importance of this cause to employees. We’re incredibly impressed by the fundraising efforts of NG Bailey and delighted that they not only hit their target – but surpassed it. Alongside this, it’s important to recognise the commitment of NG Bailey to raise awareness of dementia and the work Alzheimer’s Research UK is doing to find a cure for this condition. With the support of companies like NG Bailey, we will make breakthroughs possible and transform lives. Thank you again!”
