Employees, known as associates, at Kohler Mira Ltd, home to Mira Showers, Rada and Kohler UK brands, have launched an ambitious fundraising partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity. Associates at the Cheltenham-based company will aim to raise £30,000 this year to power groundbreaking dementia research and help the charity in its mission to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment.
Dementia affects 850,000 people in the UK and is caused by brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s, which result in the loss of brain cells and impair the brain’s ability to function properly. With no treatments able to stop or slow these diseases, dementia is now the UK’s leading cause of death. Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity dedicated to making life-changing breakthroughs in diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure.
Alzheimer’s Research UK was chosen as Kohler Mira’s Charity of the Year following an associate vote. Throughout 2019, the company is planning a range of fundraising events, with every £1 raised by associates to be matched by a donation from Kohler Mira. The partnership will also see the company work with Alzheimer’s Research UK to increase understanding of dementia among its associates.
Ash Meakins, HR Director at Kohler Mira said:

Lucy Squance, Director of Supporter-Led Fundraising at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said:
“We’re delighted to have been chosen as Kohler Mira’s Charity of the Year, and hugely excited to be working with their associates throughout 2019. One in three people have a close friend or family member living with dementia, and we know that many associates at Kohler Mira have felt the devastating impact of the condition in their own families. Research can and will deliver life-changing preventions and treatments for dementia, and Kohler Mira’s support will be vital in powering groundbreaking research that could transform lives.”
