Break down the stigma of dementia by building relationships and delivering talks in your community.

Help us achieve our ambition of creating a network of Community Speakers. These vital volunteers will play a huge part in increasing public understanding and breaking down the stigma of dementia.

You’ll research and find groups to approach, giving talks to all sorts of organisations across your region. All as you share information about our vital work to make breakthroughs possible in dementia research.

You’ll have the opportunity to give talks online. And when it is safe to do so, speak face to face at venues, in line with any government guidelines.

Other activities may include cheque presentations and thank you speeches.  You’ll also act as an ambassador for Alzheimer’s Research UK to make sure supporters feel appreciated.

Either way you can rest assured that you’ll be fully supported by your Regional Fundraising Officer. We will also provide full training and all the resources you need.

Encourage your friends to as well and we’ll help you grow a Community Speaker group throughout your own university network.

I’ve been a volunteer for Alzheimer’s Research UK since my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2002. I have spoken at public events and even joined the late Sir Terry Pratchett when he delivered a major petition to Number 10…I’m doing my bit to create a lasting legacy for my mother.
