Prevention and Risk Reduction Fund
The Prevention and Risk Reduction Fund provides funds for primary prevention and risk reduction research that have potential to significantly alter the course of cognitive decline in populations that are at-risk of Alzheimer’s disease and/or other dementias.
Alzheimer’s Research UK ran two workshops prior to the deadline to encourage collaborative thinking around each of the priority areas set by Alzheimer’s Research UK and to help develop research ideas for future applications. Please contact the Research team for a summary of workshops.
Four projects were funded under this grant scheme:
- Predicting risk of dementia using routine primary care records
- The feasibility and practicality of dementia risk reduction in the older population: A pilot trial
- Diet, physical activity and dementia risk in UK adults: Epidemiology and MedEx feasibility study
- Treating Auditory impairment and CogniTion(TACT): a pilot trial of hearing aids for dementia risk
The Prevention and Risk Reduction Fund was a one-off call for applications, however, we encourage prevention and risk reduction research applications to be submitted to our Major project grant scheme and our Global Clinical Trials Fund. Please contact the Research team if you have any questions about our funding opportunities or need guidance on which scheme to apply for.
