This year’s rescheduled Virgin Money London Marathon has been cancelled for mass participation runners and will take place for elite athletes only.
What are your next steps?
We have received confirmation from London Marathon that all charity runners will be able to roll over their place to a future London Marathon in 2021, 2022 or 2023. The London Marathon Events team will be in touch in mid-September to discuss in detail how these places will be allocated. As always, we will share this information with you as soon as we can.
If you have a ballot place in the event, the London Marathon Events team will contact you directly with options for a deferral to a future London Marathon in 2021, 2022 or 2023. Please email the Sporting Events team to provide an update on your place.
The 40th Race
Despite the London Marathon not going ahead as we imagined, there is still opportunity to take part in The 40th Race. The team at London Marathon HQ are inviting runners to complete the epic 26.2-mile marathon distance virtually on the 4 October 2020. This unique event will be a race of its time and will go down in marathon history.
London Marathon will be in touch with both charity and ballot runners to share further information about The 40th Race from home and provide details on how you can get involved!
If you don’t have a charity place with us and you would like to take part in The 40th Race from home please get in touch with the Sporting Events team, we are unsure of how many places will be available, but we will be in touch with an update as soon as we can.
