As Charity of the Year for the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society joined forces to make a stand against dementia.

The year-long Dementia Revolution campaign, leading up to race day on Sunday 28 April 2019, raised an incredible £4 million, making it the most successful Charity of the Year partnership in the 39-year history of the London Marathon.

Income from the campaign is now helping to fund pioneering research at the UK Dementia Research Institute - the UK’s most ambitious dementia research endeavour to date, bringing together 700 scientists in six cutting-edge research centres across the UK.

As well as raising vital funds for research, the Dementia Revolution helped to overturn outdated attitudes towards the condition, spreading the word that dementia is not a normal part of ageing and that through research, it can be beaten.
