Show your support for Alzheimer’s Research UK by getting involved in ‘Dress up your doorway’ during September.
Brighten up your doorway by turning it orange with balloons, bunting or anything else you have to hand. You could get all the family involved to come up with your own creative design.
We’re humbled by how you – our supporters – continue to back our mission to make breakthroughs possible during this difficult time. The COVID-19 situation is sadly putting dementia research progress at risk, with donations predicted to fall by up to 45%. That means we need your support more than ever. By taking part you’ll be showing your support for Alzheimer’s Research UK in your community and helping to fund vital dementia research.
How do I take part?
Dress up your doorway
Take a look at our examples for inspiration, and you can find materials below to help you get started.
Set up your fundraising page
It’s quick and easy to set up a JustGiving page online. You can add your own personal message or use the information that we’ve provided for you.
Print out and display our poster so that passers by know why you’ve dressed up your doorway, and how they can donate.
Spread the word!
Don’t forget to share pictures of your doorway creation on your social media channels, and encourage friends and family to donate online.
Make sure you tag in Alzheimer’s Research UK on Facebook (AlzheimersResearchUK), Twitter (@AlzResearchUK) and Instagram (@alzheimersresearchuk), and use the #dressupyourdoorway hashtag so that we can see your creations and share them on our own pages.
Add a QR Code for your fundraising
You can get a QR code for your JustGiving page by going to your page and adding ‘/qrcode’ to the end of the URL.
For example if my page is www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MrsFundraiser add /qrcode at the end and click enter.
Your QR code will then pop up and you can print this off and add to your poster.
Every donation is gratefully received and makes a difference
- £2 could pay for a health information pack, putting the latest dementia information straight into the hands of those who need it the most.
- £20 could fund one hour of vital research.
Dress up your community
Do you run a shop or local business? You could also dress up your doorway at work and let your customers know what you are doing to support our vital research.
If your street or community has a local WhatsApp group, why not use it to let your neighbours know what you’re doing? They may even be inspired to dress up their own doorway.
Your chance to win!
By taking part and sharing your photos online you will be in with a chance of winning a unique drawing of your home by Alzheimer’s Research UK supporter, Nola Smith.
Nola has been raising funds for many years by creating sketches of much-loved homes and favourite views and one winner will receive an original dry point etching of your home by Nola.
