Bolton, Greater Manchester
A brand new race in 2024, it's time to have the real British race experience, where you can become a proper hero! Take in the beautiful bike course scenery, and impressive finish line in the heart of Bolton Town centre where the crowd support is like nowhere else in the world.
Swim: The 1.2 mile (1.9km) swim will take place in the familiar, sheltered waters of Pennington Flash Nature reserve. Free shuttle busses are provided from Bolton town centre on race morning to get you to the start.
Bike: From swim exit, T1 is a flat 200m run through the crowds of supporters. Drop your swim kit bag off with volunteers for transport to Bolton and then you begin your bike leg. While the bike leg is yet to be revealed, you can be assured of some spectacular scenery and some punchy climbs to keep it interesting on the 56 mile (90.1km) course.
Run: T2 will be in Bolton’s picturesque Queen’s Park, from where you will head through the historic Town Centre and take in the crowds that have become synonymous with IRONMAN events in Bolton. The 13.1 mile (21.1km) run course is similar to those of the IRONMAN era. The red-carpet finish line outside the iconic Town Hall provides the perfect backdrop to celebrate the completion of your journey. The crowds have always come out in force from first finisher to last in Bolton and the new IRONMAN 70.3 distance event is expected to put on the same welcome home.
