Raising awareness of how people can reduce their risk of dementia.

With progress in research, we’re learning more about what we can do to reduce our risk of dementia. However, only 25% of people know they can do something to reduce their risk of the condition. Government plays a vital role in translating this knowledge to widespread action.

With your help, we’ve campaigned alongside Public Health England and Alzheimer’s Society for government to make information about reducing the risk of dementia mandatory in NHS Health Checks for people 40-64 years old. This followed a pilot study we conducted that showed 75% of people who remembered risk reduction information given to them by health check practitioners changed their attitudes and were encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
