Our Honorary Research Fellowships are given to people who have made key contributions to our research. Their support has been crucial to us in our mission to defeat dementia.

Prof David Smith was the founding Chair of our Scientific Advisory Board in its current form, and was instrumental in recruiting leading experts to it. A co-founder of Oxford University’s Oxford Project to Investigate Memory and Aging (OPTIMA), he also played a vital role in setting up our Research Network.
His outstanding contribution to dementia research and his help in nurturing Alzheimer’s Research UK have been invaluable.

Prof Bob Lieberman has offered scientific expertise to our Board of Trustees for several years. As Professor of Anatomy at University College London, he is a former member of our Scientific Advisory Board and our Research sub-committee.
His enormous contribution, on both a scientific and personal level, led to him being named an Honorary Research Fellow in 2009.
