Current research

We want to defeat dementia. It’s a big task. We’ve broken it down into smaller pieces and we’re aiming to complete the whole puzzle.

Find out more about our work into:

The causes of dementia

A lot of our research is building an understanding of what causes Alzheimer’s and other dementias. This knowledge is crucial. It forms the basis for new preventions and treatments.

Preventing dementia

If we could delay the onset of dementia by just 5 years, we could halve the number of people dying with dementia.

Diagnosing dementia

We are investing in new ways to diagnose dementia. Doctors need accurate, reliable and fast ways to diagnose people. A diagnosis means people can get the treatments and support they need.

New treatments and a cure

We are investing in new treatments that aim to improve people’s quality of life. A treatment that can stop the disease in its tracks, or even reverse symptoms, is our long-term goal. It’s long-term because research takes time but with your support we are making fantastic progress. Read more about our achievements.
