The Lord Mayor’s Battle of the Brains

The Lord Mayor, Councillor David Gemmell, showed his support for Battle of the Brains on World Alzheimer’s Day – 21 September – by hosting a quiz night, inviting Hull companies to go head-to-head. Twenty-two companies across Hull committed their support, raising over £1,000!

Entry cost £50 per team and included a pie supper. The winning team was from the Local Land Registry; their prize, the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Battle of the Brain’s Trophy, which was the envy of all the companies taking part.

Michele’s Battle of the Brains

Alzheimer’s Research UK is always amazed at the fantastic efforts of our fundraisers, such as Michele Perrett who decided to hold a quiz at her local pub, The Plough Inn, Debden. A wonderful £250 was raised on the night and Michele was delighted at the support she received from friends, family and fellow villagers. Michele’s father has Frontotemporal dementia, so she knows only too well how grossly underfunded research into dementia is.

Raising vital funds and awareness by holding fantastic fundraising events, such as Battle of the Brains, is a great way to get involved in the fight to defeat dementia.
