In the run-up to the general election, Alzheimer’s Research UK is campaigning to protect UK dementia research – and we need your help.

In recent years, there has been a renewed political focus on dementia research and we have made promising steps towards finding a life-changing treatment. However, for the 850,000 people living with dementia and the many millions who are set to develop it in the future, we urgently need the government to maintain its focus on dementia research.

We have built the foundations to rapidly accelerate progress to new treatments, but it is important we do not lose this impetus.  Whichever political party forms the next government, it is vital that dementia research remains a high priority.

Prospective Parliamentary Candidates

You can show your support by committing to protect dementia research in the next Parliament. To continue making progress, we are asking for:

  • The continuation of the Dementia Challenge 2020, and a long-term strategy to defeat dementia;
  • Investment in the UK’s life sciences sector;
  • The adoption of recommendations from the Accelerated Access Review, to help new medicines reach patients quickly.

If you would like to know more about dementia research and why it needs to remain a political priority, please contact our Policy and Public Affairs team on 01223 896637.
