Manchester, 4-5 July
Alzheimer’s Research UK is proud to be research charity partner for The Alzheimer’s Show 2014. Now in its second year, the Show will be held at EventCity, Manchester, on Friday 4 July and Saturday 5.
The Alzheimer’s Show is the UK’s only exhibition and conference dedicated to the growing community of carers, relatives, professionals and those living with dementia.
Across the two-day event there will be a full programme of speakers covering a wide range of topics. On Friday 4 July The Rt Hon Hazel Blears MP will deliver the keynote speech and take part in the Question Time panel session.
Alzheimer’s Research UK will also be welcoming a line-up of speakers to the Manchester event.
Friday 4 July
Professor Stuart Pickering-Brown, who is based at the University of Manchester, will be discussing the genetics of frontotemporal dementia. Prof Pickering-Brown will be speaking about his study, funded in part by Alzheimer’s Research UK, which is building on an important gene discovery made in 2011.
Saturday 5 July
Professor Nigel Hooper, also of the University of Manchester, will be talking about current research approaches to Alzheimer’s disease. Prof Hooper will focus on his current study which is being undertaken with funding from Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Visitors will have the chance to put their questions to a panel of experts following both talks.
As well as the comprehensive conference programme, there will be a wide range of dementia care exhibitors, practical workshop sessions, talks from carers and experts on a range of topics, a quiet area and Admiral Nurse 1-2-1 clinics.
